Borderlands 2 made me angry everyday

My Borderlands 2 Review

One of the Worst Games I’ve Ever Played

I finally beat Borderlands 2. I downloaded it because my friend recommended it, and it was free on Steam—so I figured, why not?

From the very beginning, this game made me angry every time I played it. I actually counted the bullets it took to kill just one enemy—it was 21. And it wasn’t just one enemy; many of them took that many hits, and bosses took even more—an absolutely ridiculous amount. What a frustrating experience.

My friend told me, “You just have to shoot and run through the levels.” So I tried that. It did make the game more tolerable, but also incredibly boring. I was basically just sprinting through areas, skipping actual combat. There was no fun in that at all.

Eventually, I gave in and used cheats—max health, max skills, and unlimited money—because even trying to run through the levels without dying was too difficult. The enemies were powerful, and worst of all, the levels were flooded with endless waves of them. It never stopped.

To even enable cheats, I had to patch the .exe and save files. Luckily, ChatGPT helped me out, or it would’ve taken hours. Still, even with cheats, the game remained extremely difficult. As I progressed, enemies got even tougher and required more bullets to take down. Even the most powerful weapons didn’t seem to make much difference.

The ammo situation was another disaster. With how many bullets you need to kill just one enemy, and how many enemies they throw at you, you’d expect to have plenty of ammo. Nope. I was constantly running out.

I also really didn’t like the art style. The graphics looked like a washed-out painting, which just wasn’t appealing to me.

To be fair, I did enjoy the music, and some of the characters seemed to have interesting personalities. It felt like the developers genuinely had fun making the game.

I talked to others about it, and surprisingly, many of them said they enjoyed it and didn’t find it hard. What?? I guess everyone has different tastes. There’s clearly a market for games like this, but it’s just not for me.

The only thing I actually found useful in this game was the turret.

Overall, this was easily one of the worst games I’ve ever played—right up there with the Call of Duty series, which I find way too fast-paced and chaotic.

My friend is currently playing Borderlands 3 and wants to buy Borderlands 4. He loves the series. But me? I can’t even stand to watch him play it—it just makes me angry all over again.

I’ll never buy a Borderlands game. And I’m glad I didn’t buy this one.
