Wow. I just found a Spotify-like website\/app that uses the Nostr-based tipping system with Bitcoin Lightning payments. One of the artists on there \u2014 Ainsley Costello \u2014 recommended it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is exactly what I\u2019ve been saying we need and have been looking for. I can\u2019t stand Spotify. It\u2019s a corporate machine that doesn\u2019t care about independent artists. I refuse to ever pay for a subscription. I\u2019ll keep using it for free and draining their resources while I can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But now\u2026 I think I\u2019ve finally found a real replacement: Wavlake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entertainment industry \u2014 including Spotify and major music labels \u2014 has been robbing independent artists for years. They make billions while pumping out soulless, low-quality, often dark or outright toxic music. It\u2019s been a plague on American culture \u2014 and the world. And if you\u2019re an artist who doesn\u2019t play along with their narrative, they\u2019ll make sure you never get exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spotify pays artists pennies while cashing in billions. They\u2019ve also censored countless podcasts. That alone says everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is all a byproduct of the fiat system. Almost every industry works this way now \u2014 success based on merit is smothered. Talented people are exploited and burned out, never allowed to truly rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wavlake, on the other hand, lets listeners directly tip artists through their Bitcoin Lightning wallets. The platform also takes a small cut to fund its infrastructure \u2014 fair and transparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m not sure if Wavlake is fully decentralized yet, but it\u2019s still early. The potential is massive. I\u2019ve always wanted a way to directly support independent artists \u2014 and now I finally can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
