Truth Social is planning to launch a token called GEMS, a so-called reward system for user engagement on its platform. They’re partnering with Crypto . com, integrating their token CRO into the ecosystem as well.
The goal is clear, monetize the platform and attract new users. But let’s be real this approach is unlikely to succeed in the long run.
Instead of doubling down on centralized infrastructure and questionable shitcoins, Truth Social would be better off embracing open protocols. A smarter move would be to build a Nostr client, spin up a Nostr relay, and maybe even contribute to a Nostr-based media hosting platform or collaborate with projects like Nostr . build.
Why? Because Nostr isn’t just a social network it’s a protocol built around Bitcoin-native tipping (like zaps via the Lightning Network). That’s a real incentive system, grounded in actual value, not speculative tokens.
Truth Social, in its current form, is boring. GEMS might add some short-term novelty, but it won’t solve the deeper issues. Meanwhile, Nostr offers openness, decentralization, and financial tools that actually work.
Nostr isn’t just the better option, it’s the inevitable winner.
