Although in the past they seem to have tried changing the name of the holiday from Christmas to \"Holiday\" but that doesn't change the fact that it is a mandated holiday.\n\nThere is plenty of Canadians who do not celebrate Christmas on the 25th for many personal reasons and do not celebrate many other mandated holidays that the government pushes throughout the year.\n\nSome examples depending on local laws that are forced to close on the 25th:\n\nClothing stores.\nElectronics stores.\nFurniture retailers.\nRecreational Facilities\n\nI traveled overseas before and a local business owner told me that Christmas time and Christmas Day was the best time to make money because people went out with their families, to shop, eat around Christmas and even on Christmas day.
