Wow! I’m so excited that my LFL instance now has its own voice room!

One of the best things about having a voice room on my own domain is having control over my own space.

I’ve used apps like HelloTalk, which is Chinese, and Tandem, which is German. They also have voice rooms, but there’s way too much censorship. You can’t talk about politics, religion, and many other topics. It feels like there’s always a list of things you’re not allowed to discuss. Eventually, apps like that either ban people or drive them away.

Now I have my own voice room, on my own domain, where I decide the rules and what conversations are allowed. And if you run your own LFL instance, you can do the same!

Voice rooms are one thing I think Nostr is still missing. There has been some work on them, but they’re still fairly new and not widely supported by Nostr clients and apps. I’m going to look into getting clients to detect and join LFL voice rooms, because I think this could become an awesome part of Nostr.

Voice rooms are such a great way to meet people, make friends, and have real conversations instead of just posting back and forth.
