Executive Order 13818 authorizes the U.S. government to sanction individuals and entities involved in serious human rights abuses or corruption, including human trafficking, regardless of whether they are located within the United States or abroad.
Specifically, it allows the U.S. government to:
Freeze (block) assets of individuals or entities involved in human rights abuses, human trafficking, or corruption.
Prohibit U.S. citizens and companies from doing business with those sanctioned individuals or entities. Take action globally—not limited to U.S. territory.
