Why does Nermal act girly? Why does Nermal have a girls voice? Why, why, why. So many why’s. The truth is Nermal is a transgender cat and Nermal himself doesn’t know it.
I used to watch Garfield when I was young and I couldn’t stand Nermal. He was so annoying. Why does he act like a girl. I understood Garfield’s pain.
My sister asked me one time “why does Nermal have a girls voice and why did he act like a girl if he is a male cat.” I couldn’t explain why. I was confused also for decades.
After decades I finally understand why Nermal is the way he is. It’s because Nermal is a transgender cat!
Does Nermal know he is transgender? I don’t think he does. Does Garfield? I don’t think so either but I think Garfield secretly knows that Nermal likes other male cats.
The average person didn’t know what being transgender meant. They only understood the word transsexual or crossing dresser.
Does Jim Davis know? Why would Jim Davis make Nermal act like a girl? I have no idea what Jim Davis was thinking or if he did it on purpose.
When the Garfield comic first started. The word “trans” or “transgender” was not mainstream. Transgender people did exist but it wasn’t as mainstream as today and many of them hid as it wasn’t as accepted as it is today.
It finally hit me why Garfield hates Nermal. It’s because Garfield doesn’t want a male cat hugging him, touching him or doing weird girly things around him. If Nermal acted like a brother. Then Garfield wouldn’t of hated him.
The majority of men don’t want other men hugging them or touching them or acting girly around them. Majority of men also don’t want transgender women hugging them or touching them or even being friends with them. It’s normal and there is nothing wrong with that.
It’s people’s free will to choose who they want to associate or be friends with.
We do have a problem.
Nermal needs to be educated to stop touching and hugging Garfield because it’s obvious that Nermal is invading in Garfield’s personal space. It seems to me that Nermal is harassing Garfield.
Garfield has asked him to stop many times but Nermal does not listen.
Does Nermal want a relationship with male cats or female cats? We don’t know. The comic has never stated Nermal’s sexuality but I wouldn’t be surprised if Nermal has a secret crush on Garfield.
We do know that Garfield is straight. In fact Garfield has a girlfriend named Arlene.
I don’t hate Nermal anymore. In fact i understand Nermal better now and think Nermal is cool except
I just want & wish for Nermal to stop harassing Garfield. Harassing others is not cool.
Garfield is a very manly cat and that’s what makes him cool & funny.
