My friend has a cat in a very small apartment. The cat wakes up and starts walking around, looking for something to do, but there’s really nothing for it because the space is so cramped. The apartment has only one window, and it faces a brick wall, so the cat eventually goes back to sleep.
To me, it seems like a pretty depressing life, and I feel sorry for the cat. Not to mention the smell of a cat lingers around heavier in small apartments.
People often say that cats are low-maintenance, but I disagree. They need stimulation and, ideally, access to the outdoors, like a backyard. I think building a catio would be a great idea and would help keep the cat happy and entertained.
