Starlink is great compared to internet decades ago

I’ve been using and testing Starlink, and it’s amazing for most things — downloads are super fast, browsing is smooth, and even video calls work fine. But when it comes to uploading and real-time streaming, it’s a different story.

Starlink’s stability isn’t reliable enough for consistent live streams — especially if you’re using audio effects like Voicemod. You get random drops, latency spikes, and compression artifacts that make your stream choppy and your voice sound robotic.

That said, I still think Starlink is perfect for travelers or van-lifers. If I were road-tripping across the U.S. and just needed to upload edited videos, blog posts, or YouTube content, it would be perfect. But for live streaming, especially IRL content, it just can’t beat the rock-solid reliability of fiber optic internet.

I do remember a decade ago we didn’t even have anything close to as reliable as Starlink for rural areas so starlink is a massive upgrade.
